New Hope Railroad's main locomotive, #40, was built in 1925 by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was purchased by the New Hope in 1962, where it saw infrequent use until the main motive power was withdrawn from service. From 1975 until her removal from service in 1986, #40 would be the main star of the New Hope Railroad. Then, in 1991, #40 would then be brought back to life and would resume her claim to fame by being the main motive power for the New Hope.
